Join us, and perform or display your community, interactive, or other public art for all to enjoy for ten days this summer. Fill out our online form to tell us about your work, and let us know about space and other requirements.
All forms of art are welcome, including performances, sculpture, projections, plant art, fibre arts--art that the community can interact with or help to create is particularly encouraged. Revolutionary art and art by Indigenous and Black artists, People of Colour, newcomers, neurodiverse artists, artists with disabilities, and others who self-identify as marginalized is especially welcome.
We will do our best to match you with a space in or around Quadra Village where you can perform, or your work will be displayed, along with an artist profile.
There are no fees to participate, and we pay artists!
If you need to be matched with a host, be sure to submit your art by Friday, August 13, 2021 to be included on the map!
Do you live in or near Quadra Village? Host some art where you live!
Feature an art work or host a performance on your balcony, in your window, on your front lawn, or in another space visible from the street this summer. Fill out our online form to be matched with a local artist, and help their work be seen!
Artists will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing their work.

An Opportunity to Help Bring Back the Arts!
The artists who enliven our communities have been without access to audiences for over a year now. If we want them to be here to when it's safe to gather again, we need to work together to create opportunities for them to display (and sell) their work, and connect with audiences. Alter Arts Society is committed to supporting artists financially through the Out There Art Festival and our other projects. Buying a ticket to the Out There Art Festival is a safe, physically-distanced way to show your support for local artists.
Weekend performances for this year's festival are still to be confirmed, but last year talented performers included Theatre SKAM, Pacific Opera Victoria, Rollerskate Victora, and The Rising Circus, as well as local Storyteller Jennifer Ferris, musical guests Autumn Moon, local DJs and giant parade puppets Kit Kat and Babadook.

Alter Arts Society is a registered non-profit organization and community initiative by and for artists located on the stolen lands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən people.
As uninvited visitors to these territories, we respectfully seek opportunities to unlearn oppressive, colonial practices that we have benefited from, and to follow the lead of Indigenous elders in stewarding these lands. We are committed to questioning existing power structures, and supporting the decolonization of our society and institutions and Indigenous self-determination however we can.
