Join Artist-in-Residence Tatiana Makovkin in for unstructured experimental costume crafts, or for help with costume ideas and creation from 10am and 6pm every Tuesday from now until Halloween.
We have a variety of tools and supplies available for mask making and costume design, including sewing machines, felt, buttons, feathers, glue guns, and much more! However, we are a donations-based organization so please bring materials to use and/or contribute if you can.
It's the perfect time to get ready for Halloween - see you at the Costume Lab!
The cost of the workshop is $6.99. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if cost is a barrier for you, as we do have some subsidized spaces available. Please reach out if you would like to purchase an extra space for a community member in need. No experience necessary, everyone is welcome!
You will need: - Eggs (blown or raw), white eggs work best - Onion or shallot skins (yellow or red onions or shallots work best) - A 6" x 6" square of thin fabric, cheesecloth or paper towel for each egg - yarn, twine or elastic bands - vinegar (any kind will do) - small leaves or flowers collected just before you begin (clover works great)
Alter Arts Society is a registered non-profit organization and community initiative by and for artists located on the stolen lands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən people.
As uninvited visitors to these territories, we respectfully seek opportunities to unlearn oppressive, colonial practices that we have benefited from, and to follow the lead of Indigenous elders in stewarding these lands. We are committed to questioning existing power structures, and supporting the decolonization of our society and institutions and Indigenous self-determination however we can.
